About
My current focus is twofold. DePopulus is the civic-tech half — a family of applications that make legislation and local government legible. Black Lotus Media is the creative outlet, housing my films, my books, and the tooling behind them. I also advise and consult on technical strategy.
Before that I spent four years at Synchron building implantable brain–computer interface systems, going from Senior Software Engineer to Interim Director of Software — reporting to the CEO and leading an eight-engineer organization.
Earlier, I was at Microsoft, working on internal tooling for IoT and the order-ahead system during COVID, with a promotion every year. I started my career at Booz Allen Hamilton, working on government-related projects.
The through-line is bringing the same engineering skills to new domains — IoT, brain-computer interfaces, FDA-aligned applications, politics, film, and more.

Reported to the CEO to lead an 8-engineer org through restructuring and production transition. Reorganized the SDLC to decouple verification from engineering, cutting feature delivery timelines ~20–30%.

Stabilized BCI training pipelines used during live patient sessions, improving reliability from ~30% to ~90%. Ran hiring end to end; mentored engineers across mobile, backend, and systems.

Senior Engineer · Synchron
Designed and built Bluetooth-enabled client applications interfacing with custom implanted hardware used in clinical procedures. Built the training interfaces letting users with paralysis control digital devices through ML-driven BCI models.

Shipped a React Native app for ordering ahead on Microsoft's campus, live in 26 of 29 cafés. Integrated Apple Pay and Google Pay via FreedomPay for thousands of employees. Acted as scrum master.

Built an Angular application to monitor and quarantine network threats. Presented an ML-focused web tool at NVIDIA GTC 2018. Delivered a Django application supporting a $100M+ Army contract proposal.

Character identity pipeline
Python tooling that trains LoRAs for real character and style lock across shots — built because closed video tools drift between angles. This is the project where the engineering and the film work are the same project.
